Born in 1990, Rizwan Butt embraced his infatuation with his deep toned and haunting vocals while still in school by performing at naat competitions. Grandson of Nazeer Ahmad Butt, a classical teacher of musicology at NCA, he was formally trained by his grandfather for a year before he passed away. Staying close to the Sufi influence that surrounded him within the four walls of his house, he picked up the guitar in 2004 and learnt to play electric, metal, acoustic and simple blues-jazz. At the same time coaching his vocals to adapt to any genre from classic to rock and jazz.

Running his own studio as a music director, he’s currently working on 3 original soundtracks and a tribute song for Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. With a vocal quality that’ll grab you by the collar and is second-to-none, Rizwan Butt is set to make his debut on Coke Studio, Season 9.
